Chamber of Treasures

Before you start playing Chamber of Treasures lets go over how to play the game.

Starting the Game

Once the game has loaded you'll be presented with a "Start" button and an "Avatar" button.

If this is your first time playing click the "Avatar" button to create your character.

If you've played before you can click the "Start" button to resume your game. If you'd like to change you avatar's appearance you can click the "Avatar" button.

Character Creation

Clicking the "Avatar" button will take you to a character creation menu where you can choose gender, hairstyle, clothing and much more.

Use the "<<<" and ">>>" buttons to rotate your avatar so you can see them from different directions. Once you're finished click the "Start" button to begin playing the game.

If you've played before you can still click this button to change your character's appearance.

Avatar Window

Once you've entered the world you'll see a window at the top, left of the screen. This contains your avatar, health bar, mana bar, the amount of gold you have and the amount of quest gems you've collected.

Health

Your health bar shows how much health you have. Once the bar is depleted you'll re-spawn at a safe location, with full health. You can use health potions to increase your health if you get low.

Mana

Your Mana bar shows how much mana you have. You must have mana to use a scroll. Your mana will regenerate slowly over time or you can use mana potions for a quick recharge.

Gold

Your can collect gold from completing quests and selling items to a merchant. You'll need gold to purchase items from merchants.

Quest Gems

Your collect quest gems from completing quest. Some quests are re-playable but you'll only get a gem the first time you've completed a particular quest. You'll need to collect 20 quest gems to enter the Chamber of Treasures.

Inventory

The inventory contains items you've collected during a quest, found in a chest or bought from a merchant.

Once you've collected a lot of items you can scroll through the inventory to see hidden items, moving left or right with the "<" or ">" keys on your keyboard.

Using an Inventory Item

Click the corresponding number that in above the item icon on your keyboard to select an item. An item will be highlighted once it has been selected.

Use the space-bar key on your keyboard to use an item once you've selected it. The number displayed beside an item is the amount of the items you have. If the item is a consumable and you've used the last one the icon will disappear from your inventory.

Options Menu

Press the "Gear" button at the bottom right of the screen to open the "Options" menu.

Music Volume

Slide the "Music" slider handle left or right to adjust the music volume.

SFX Volume

Slide the "SFX" slider handle left or right to adjust the sound effects volume.

<Quit

Press the "Quit" button to quit the game and save the game data. If you just close your browser the game data will NOT be saved.

Pause

Press the "Pause" button to pause or resume the game.

Respawn

Press the "Respawn" if you get stuck in the world. You will be transported to a safe spot.

Movement

Press the "W" or "Up" arrow key on your keyboard to move your character up.

Press the "A" or "left" arrow key on your keyboard to move your character left.

Press the "S" or "Down" arrow key on your keyboard to move your character down.

Press the "D" or "Right" arrow key on your keyboard to move your character right.

Merchants

Merchants are found in many locations where you can buy and sell items. Simply walk up a merchant and the merchant window will open.

Items

There are many items you can buy. There are weapons, armor, magic scrolls, potions, food, and more.
Some items have special properties and abilities and some are just for fun. It's up to you to experiment.

Price

The "Price" is how much an item cost. If you don't have enough gold you will not be able to purchase the item.

Key

The "Key" number corresponds with the number keys on your keyboard. Use the number keys to select an item when buying or selling items.

Quantity

The "Quantity" is how many of an item you have chosen to buy or sell. Use the "+" or "-" keys on your keyboard to add or subtract the quantity.

Buying Items

The default behavior when you first open up the merchant window is "Buying". You can toggle between buying and selling items with the "Shift" key on your keyboard.

Selecting Items

Use your number keys to select an item with the corresponding number. The item will be highlighted yellow if it's been selected.

Adding/Subtracting Items

Once an item has been selected press the "+" key on your keyboard to increase the quantity to buy. Or, press the "-" key on your keyboard to decrease the quantity to buy.

Multiple Items

You can buy more than one type of item at a time. Once you've selected an item and set the quantity merely select another item and set it's quantity.
An item will be highlighted green if it's not selected but ready to be bought.

Purchasing

Once you're happy with your selection(s) press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to completed the purchase. The item(s) will be added to your inventory and the gold will be deducted from your purse.

Canceling

If you want to cancel and exit out of the merchant window without making any transaction press the "Space" key on your keyboard.

Selling Items

Selling items works the same way as buying items. Click the "Shift" key on your keyboard to toggle the merchant window. Your inventory will appear in the merchant window. Then you select items and set the quantity to sell just like when you buy an item.
Tip: If you want to sell your armor or a helmet and you're wearing it you must take it off to sell it. You'll have to close the merchant window to do so.

+10 Items in Inventory

If you have more than 10 items in your inventory you can use the "<" or ">" keys on your keyboard to scroll left or right through all your items. The merchant window will update accordingly.

Multiple Items

You can sell more than one type of item at a time. Once you've selected an item and set the quantity merely select another item and set it's quantity.
An item will be highlighted green if it's not selected but ready to be sold.

Selling

Once you're happy with your selection(s) press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to completed the purchase. The item(s) will be removed from your inventory and the gold will be added to your purse.

Canceling

If you want to cancel and exit out of the merchant window without making any transaction press the "Space" key on your keyboard.

Quests

There are 20 quest you have to complete to enter the Chamber of Treasures. Explore the world to find people in need. Some quest are re-playable but you'll only get a quest gem the first time you've completed a quest. If you quit the game in the middle of a quest(s) you'll have to redo the quest from the start.

Talking to people

To talk to a person you must bump into them. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to exit the dialog screen. Talking to a person more than once can reveal clues to solving a quest.

Collecting Quest Items

Some quests ask you to collect items. Once you've located a item stand close to and press the "Space" key on your keyboard to pick it up.

Using Quest Items

To use a quest item select it in your inventory using the corresponding number key on your keyboard and then press the "Space" key on your keyboard.

Completing a Quest

Once you've completed a quest you'll get a reward and a quest gem. You'll also be presented with a question that you'll answer with your instructor.

Instructor Controls for Questions

All of the instructor's input is done via the mouse.

Questions

The questions that the instructor has chosen when setting up the game will ONLY be the ones displayed. These can be changed before launching the game. The questions are displayed randomly but you can display a new, randomly chosen question but clicking the "New" button.

Answers

Some of the default answer choices are hidden by default depending on the question. This can also be true for custom answer choices depending on how they were created. Use the eyeball icon to toggle between showing the answer choice or hiding the answer choice. Some questions are verbal and will not have any answer choices and will require the instructor to determine the score value.

Scoring

The instructor can choose between "Incorrect", "Correct" and "0%, 20%, 40%, 60%" depending no how the "Score" button is toggled. Once the instructor has made a scoring selection and has chosen a score value they MUST click the "Enter" button to record the question and answer in the database and to finish the question.

Data

The questions and the score values are recorded in the database for future review. This data will be found in your "Clients" area on the website.

Client Controls for Questions

All of the client's input is done via the keyboard.

Questions

The questions are the ones that the instructor has chosen when setting up the game.

Answers

Some questions are verbal and will not have any answer choices and will require the instructor to determine the score value. If there are answer choices use the "Number" keys on your keyboard to select an answer.

Quest Spoilers

If you get stuck on a quest click on the particular quest's "Spoiler" button to reveal the solution.

Sword Quest

Solution

Daphene ask you to find a sword.

Look in the crate just to the north. There, you'll find the sword.

Return to Daphene to complete the quest.

Lost Kitty Quest

Solution

Jennifer ask you to find her lost kitty.

Explore due west from Jennifer's house. There, you'll find Fluffy.

Get close to Fluffy and press your space key to collect Fluffy.

Return to Jennifer and then select Fluffy from your inventory to give Fluffy to Jennifer to complete the quest.

Spider Quest

Solution

Jack ask you to vanquish some spiders.

You'll find the spiders in a cave, just to the south.

Use your sword and vanquish 3 spiders.

Return to Jack to complete the quest.

Troll Quest

Solution

Trolly ask you for a spicy yum yum.

Go to the farm to the north and buy at least one hot pepper from the merchant.

Return to Trolly and give him the hot pepper to complete the quest.

Toy Quest

Solution

Sam ask you to find a toy his son hid.

Use the boat and sail due east. There, you'll find a chest on the island that contains the toy.

Return to Sam to complete the quest.

Fishing Quest

Solution

Guy ask you to fish up 5 fish.

First, head to the center of the fishing village and find a merchant and buy a fishing pole.

Once you have acquired a fishing pole you'll have to get in the boat to fish.

Select the fishing pole from your inventory and then press the space key to cast your line.

If you haven't gotten a bite in a minute or so, cast your line again.

After you've caught 5 fish return to Guy to complete the quest.

Tip: You can sell fish at the market to earn gold.

Rat Quest

Solution

Granny ask you to exterminate 5 rats

Search the fishing village for the rats.

Use your sword or any other weapon to attack the rats.

Once you've collected 5 rats return to Granny to complete the quest.

Hay Quest

Solution

April ask you to get some hay for her horses.

Find a merchant and buy some hay. Return to April with the hay to complete the quest.

Shark Tooth Quest

Solution

Rusty ask you to get him a shark tooth.

Take the boat and sail to the west to find the sharks.

Use a weapon to defeat a shark to obtain a tooth.

Return to Rusty with the tooth to complete the quest.

Hint: You can get a free bow from a chest on the dock.

Using a bow will make defeating the sharks easier.

Don't forget to buy some arrows for your bow.

Blue Mallow Quest

Solution

Tilly can be found in the root cellar next to her house.

Tilly will ask you to collect 10 Blue Mallow for her.

Blue Mallow can be found to the south.

Stand close to the Blue Mallow and press your space key to collect it.

Return to Tilly with 10 Blue Mallow to complete the quest.

Enter Castle Quest

Solution

The guard at the castle entrance advises you that you need an invitation to enter the castle.

You must complete the "Dress Quest" first to obtain an invitation.

Once you've obtained an invitation from Lisbeth return to the guard and give him the invitation to complete the quest.

Dress Quest

Solution

Lisbeth has torn her dress and ask you to get her a new dress.

Head east into town and locate the seamstress and buy a pink dress.

Return to Lisbeth and give her the new dress to complete the quest.

The King's Sword

Solution

The King ask you to fetch his sword from the armory.

Take the stairs downstairs.

Find the crack in the wall and hit it with your sword until it breaks open.

Retrieve the sword from the chest and bring it to the King to complete the quest.

Bandits Quest

Solution

Larz tells you about the bandits to the north.

Head north and defeat one bandit.

Return to Larz to claim your bounty and to complete the quest.

Lost Sheep Quest

Solution

Lori ask you to find out why her sheep keep showing up missing.

Head south, there you'll find a vampire.

Defeat the vampire and return to Lori to complete the quest.

Honey Comb Quest

Solution

Chip ask you to fetch some honey comb so he can tame a bear.

Head east, there you'll find the honey comb.

Stand close to the honey comb and press your space key to collect the honey comb.

Once you collected 3 honey combs return to Chip to complete the quest.

Skeleton Quest

Solution

Maya asks you to bring her some skeleton remains to study.

Head north to the graveyard, there you'll find the skeletons.

Defeat 5 skeletons to collect their skulls.

Return to Maya to complete the quest.

Crypt Key Quest

Solution

Maya asks you to find a key so you can explore the crypt.

Defeat the red skeleton to obtain the key.

Return to Maya to complete the quest.

Once you've completed the quest go back to the graveyard and stand close to a crypt door.

Select the key from your inventory and press the space key to unlock the crypt door.

You can now enter the crypt.

Goblin King Quest

Solution

Maya thinks that goblins are the source of the evil and ask you to investigate.

Explore the crypt cave and find the goblins.

Locate the Goblin King and defeat him and you'll receive an evil spell book.

Return to Maya with the spell book to complete the quest.

The Final Quest

Solution

Locate the magic tree in the forest. Maya will be there waiting for you.

You'll need to have 19 quest gems to enter the the Chamber of Treasures.

Maya has the twentieth gem and will give it to you.

Your finial quest is to defeat the dragon guarding the Chamber of Treasures.

Once you've defeated the dragon return to Maya and Daphene and follow their directions.
